you've not been recently, please check it out).
mopan.com is
our blog site, which is replacing our monthly MOPAN newsletter,
Take

Hope to see you all at the meeting!
Next week's Member Meeting will feature
two different speakers. One from Pipeworks Software and one
from Lion's Share Productions. The meeting will be hosted
by Wind Up Bird Coffee and Tea House in Coburg, Oregon. As
usual, the first half hour beginning at 6:30 PM is our "social
schmooze" for talking and networking. The presentations
begin at 7:00 PM. More specific information on the presenters
and the venue are below:
Dan White, Studio Technical Director,
Pipeworks Software
Video games have gone mainstream and become an important
part of media and popular culture. At the same time, game
companies have turned into complex organizations employing
producers, artists, game designers and engineers that have
more in common with media companies than software companies.
Eugene itself is home to several game companies, and has
a long history in the games business, dating all the way
back to 1984. The goal of this talk is to provide an introduction
to the games industry for people in traditional media, and
explore some of the commonalities (and differences) between
game and film production.
Todd Zimmerman, Owner, Lion's
Share Productions
We are a Eugene based company that will likely provide
a paying forum for artists affiliated with MOPAN, as well
as generate ongoing work for many - from locally produced
television-type shows, movies, music videos, and commercials
for local small businesses wishing to advertise on our site.
We have a network of independent Artists, Entertainers,
Producers, Educators, and Advertisers that can help you achieve
your goals, no matter how simple or crazy they seem.
Meeting Location:
Wind Up Bird Coffee and Tea House
Wind-Up Bird Coffee House is nestled in the historic town
of Coburg, Oregon. We serve up locally roasted Cascade Estates
coffee & espresso. In-house from scratch baked goods,
fine soups and excellent sandwiches. The atmosphere is peaceful
and cozy in the building built in 1905. Wind Up Bird is a
relatively new business venture for MOPAN member Todd Zeller
and his wife Lorrie.
Directions: Wind Up Bird is located at
91035
Willamette St. in Coburg Oregon. Going north from Eugene,
take Coburg Road past Beltline and it turns into Willamette
St. when you enter the City of Coburg. We are at the corner
of Delaney Street, one block south of Coburg's other main
road, E. Pearl St. We are a mere 4 miles (about 6 minutes)
north of the Eugene Costco. There's plenty of free parking.
